Back To The RC8
The Made in Austria Superbike has a website all its own. Video, stats and pictures of the motorbike are all online.
Based off the LC8 Twin powering the Super Duke, the RC8 motor features a new 75 degree V-Twin engine displacing 1148cc’s, making 155 horsepower at 88.5 lb-ft torque. Reports indicate that the sharp-edged origami shaped RC8 delivers a magnificent mid-range… just where the street-fighters like it.
| RC8 VIDEO - Is the RC8 a street-fighter or racing platform? Given KTM’s history of competitive racing and tagline of Ready To Race, it seems a safe bet that the RC8 will be racing across the world in the near future. At the 2007 Milan Show the Superbike was on display in full Red Bull racing livery. |
A unique light tubular steel frame, high-quality suspension, brake components and undercarriage-slung exhaust complete the 1190 RC8, which weighs just 440 pounds with a full tank. The result is a Superbike that truly lives up to its name in every sense of the word.
Explaining the development of his company’s first Superbike design at 65th EICMA show in Milan:
The RC8 is the perfect embodiment of the collective know-how and the sporting passion of our development teams. In addition, they have proven that KTM is capable of pushing through its own model strategy and in doing so, being absolutely true to our clear brand philosophy, also on the road.
