Team Red Bull KTM HMC factory Supermoto racers had a solid but frustrating day on Saturday’s night race at the Music City Motorplex. The racers were in the hunt but couldn’t close on the red and blue riders.
What a day Benny Carlson had. He was running up front in practice when he broke a transmission. Team Manager, Elliot Cho, moved the suspension from the primary bike to the backup 560 racer. Carlson went slower in qualifications than in practice by a tenth. When he returned to the pits, Elliot decided to get him back on his primary KTM 610 bike by giving it a heart transplant.
Johnny Lewis pegged the time charts in 5th place on promoter’s day practice. On race day his riding got smoother while he became more comfortable with his mount. On the second qualification session he took pole position.
Gary Trachy of Orange, CA runs Supermoto Unlimited and is currently in 6th place in the championship. When not running in the AMA Supermoto Championship series he is running the Pikes Peak race on two wheels. He currently holds the world record.

Team Manager, Elliott Cho, thrashed to keep all the bikes running at Round 9 of the AMA Supermoto Championship at the Music City Motorplex. Cho replaced an engine and suspension one hour before the Unlimited race. Results? Smiles all around.
