K&N filter reports on Lewis’ win

Teen Star Gets Career Boost at AMA Supermoto Unlimited - Johnny Lewis, Team Red Bull KTM/HMC’s 17-year-old rider outclassed a deep field of AMA Supermoto Unlimited competitors to claim his first victory at Nashville.

It was a big step in the promising career of the teen from Pennsylvania. Lewis started on the pole, got the holeshot and lead every lap to the win.

KTM’s Micky Dymond, the reigning class champ suffered a blow to his hopes for a title at the Music City Motorplex. The All Access Racing star tore off into the lead at the green light but crashed at the first turn and had a hard time getting his bike restarted.

Dymond finished 13th and now Lewis can’t get any less than 4th in the overall championship. “I’m hoping to finish in the top three,” said Johnny Lewis. “Mickey is only three points (160-157) behind me.”

The Nashville race was a major triumph for the Red Bull KTM HMC squad. Red Bull’s Class title leader Ben Carlson opened up his points lead just a bit heading into the Long Beach season finale. Carlson was second, one spot ahead of rival David Baffeleuf.

Team Red Bull KTM/HMC is equipped with K&N Engineering Products RX-3900-1, KN-155, KN-157 and 62-1010. “K&N helped me go really fast at Nashville,” said Lewis. “I get better airflow and the dirt stays out of my engine at every race.”

Lewis said he is looking forward to the next race in November at Long Beach, California. “There is a lot of tunnel jumping in the lot near the Queen Mary,” he said. “I’m practicing and training a lot. It’s great that Team Red Bull’s Mitch Hansen gave me the opportunity to ride for a factory team. It’s also great to have a good relationship with K&N. K&N Products are the best.”

Lewis is currently third in the championship, 18 points from first 14 from second and there is only one race left.
