Carlson Just Off the Podium in Detroit
Six inches was the difference between hero and 4th place for Benny Carlson. On the last lap of the race leading into the second dirt section Benny’s rear wheel stepped out onto the grass. With Herculean effort Benny tried to save his number 45 racer but to no avail. Click here to see the action.
He was poised to make the winning pass on race winner Micky Dymond, instead he limped home in 4th place passed by France’s David Baffeleuf and Lodi, California’s Leonardo Bagnis.
Defending AMA Supermoto Unlimited champion Micky Dymond picked up his first win of the season following a dramatic duel with the man who entered the weekend leading in the points, Team Red Bull KTM HMC’s Ben Carlson.
Carlson’s teammate, Johnny Lewis brought his KTM 610 SMR across the stripe in 7th place.
Tough day for the Team Red Bull KTM HMC Unlimited team, Carlson falls to 2nd and Lewis falls to 4th. Still plenty of racing action left in the series.
